kiss wrote a song about detroit

And i am here right now.
Yes, I escaped germany.
I sat next to a giant on the airplane.
His girth occupied my territory.
He plucked 47 nose hairs out and wiped them on his seat.
I counted.
It was disgusting.

I am the handsomest Ruel alive.

At least I think so, especially today. I bought some new fun german hair gel and did hair experiments this morning.

Weary travels

So Oktoberfest is over. My summary: lots of drunk people. Thats about it. I am glad I went, but feel no need to ever return. Now, I am tired and just want to go home. Unfortunately, I am TRAPPED here until Friday. I don't even have the energy to write any sarcastic banter at the moment.
So I won't.

First day of Oktoberfest

We left work a little early to head for Oktoberfest. Ed (one of my co-workers, he has an MBA but I overlook that and hang out with him anyway) got a Mercedes this week so we were rollin like pimps. Yoshino-sann and Uiki-sann promptly fell asleep and we headed south on a 4 hour roadtrip. The sky continued to grow grey and the rain began to pour.

Around 6 pm we arrived at the hotel. It is very Euro and very minimal. Due to our late arrival, I had low expectations for the night. We decided to head out to Oktoberfest anyway and people watch. I had no idea what to expect. We took a train into the city and immediately I was struck dumb at the number of people in lederhosen and carrying beer bottles around.

We finally found the festival. Staggering drunks were everywhere as well as people in all stages of inebreation (criers, pukers, pee-ers, and shouters). We sat down at a table with some german and canadian kids and drank a liter. Due to the cold temp we decided to head into the city and find someplace indoors. After about an hour we went to the Hofbrauhaus (a big german beer hall). We met a bunch of british guys and sat with them. From there, everyone got kind of trashed. It was fun, if only for the people watching aspect.

I woke up around 7 this morning, had breakfast and am now about to go search for a razor, its code red on shaving this morning. We will head back into the city today and try to get into a tent. I suspect 2 days will be enough to fill my Oktoberfest itch. After that, I do not think I will require beer for approximatly 351 days.

I am also painfully aware that my clean underware supply is running drastically low. I need to come up with a laundry solution quickly.

Email Haiku

Got this today in my email. It made me giggle-----------------
---------------------------------------------------------------

I'm not a fast driver, so I cannot follow you on autobahn.
Shall we meet at my hotel around 7 or 8 PM? Then we go to drink beer 1st round...

If I'm not at hotel, go ahead to October Festa, I may lost the way...

OK for you?

Tomorrow I am off to Oktoberfest for the weekend. Should be fun, i am going with a guy around my age, and two guys from japan. It should be interesting.... I can't wait to upload some of the sketches I have been doing. They have turned out great. We went to a fabulous little german pizzaria tonight which was great. Very cool atmosphere.  Posted by Hello

Germany is cold

I left texas with a second degree sunburn from standing the in searing heat of the acl festival.
This morning in Dresden it was 48 degrees.
Being the consumate uber planner that I am, naturally, I packed nothing warm. (also neglected a razor and a toothbrush )
I may do some shopping tonight and get a jacket or something. I wonder what my chances of finding a grey hoodie are.

A bunch of my CO workers went bowling last night. I was feeling anti-social and i completely suck at bowling (even though I am from the midwest), so I went perusing around the city last night, popping into little shops and trying to find some cool stuff to sketch. I got back to the hotel late, and finally fell asleep.

To date I have had no less than 5 near fatal traffic experiences here. I am not too good of a driver to begin with, couple that with a foreign country and not knowing the rules and it is a recipe for disaster.

The one cool thing is that every time I come here I remember a little more german. I was able to have a conversation with a waiter last night that was more in depth than hello and goodbye.

Evan emailed me this morning to say that the Pixies are playing at Stubb's
http://stubbsaustin.com
That's tight. I will go see them again if can get some tickets.
