First day of Oktoberfest

We left work a little early to head for Oktoberfest. Ed (one of my co-workers, he has an MBA but I overlook that and hang out with him anyway) got a Mercedes this week so we were rollin like pimps. Yoshino-sann and Uiki-sann promptly fell asleep and we headed south on a 4 hour roadtrip. The sky continued to grow grey and the rain began to pour.

Around 6 pm we arrived at the hotel. It is very Euro and very minimal. Due to our late arrival, I had low expectations for the night. We decided to head out to Oktoberfest anyway and people watch. I had no idea what to expect. We took a train into the city and immediately I was struck dumb at the number of people in lederhosen and carrying beer bottles around.

We finally found the festival. Staggering drunks were everywhere as well as people in all stages of inebreation (criers, pukers, pee-ers, and shouters). We sat down at a table with some german and canadian kids and drank a liter. Due to the cold temp we decided to head into the city and find someplace indoors. After about an hour we went to the Hofbrauhaus (a big german beer hall). We met a bunch of british guys and sat with them. From there, everyone got kind of trashed. It was fun, if only for the people watching aspect.

I woke up around 7 this morning, had breakfast and am now about to go search for a razor, its code red on shaving this morning. We will head back into the city today and try to get into a tent. I suspect 2 days will be enough to fill my Oktoberfest itch. After that, I do not think I will require beer for approximatly 351 days.

I am also painfully aware that my clean underware supply is running drastically low. I need to come up with a laundry solution quickly.
